Childhood

I had a childhood filled with glory.
Do you want to hear my story?
I spent hours tied to a chair,
living on instincts, and made to beware.
When I was gagged, I cried helplessly
no hands to wipe the snot running free.
I had to get used to the flavour of tears,
become a good actress to hide all my fears.

When I got freedom, it was too late,
It was when I was younger, I needed the gate.
Even now, nothing can remove the hate and fear,
I try hard not to show it, I get better every year.
Now I’m glad to be alive, at least I didn’t die.
I’m left with the question,
‘Why did Police believe the lie?’
